CODE BREAKERS

See if YOU could have helped to shorten World War II by beating the German Enigma code!

Challenge your class with this one-of-a-kind experience, encouraging them to test their code breaking skills and find out whether they could have helped shorten World War II by beating the German Enigma code!

Requiring students to not only apply logic and sequencing skills but to also explore the creation of computer science in the 1940’s. Participants will initially assume the role of naval encryption specialists representing the Axis Powers and try their hand at devising secure codes aimed to stump the Allied Forces!

Then, students would step into the shoes of Alan Turing and the legendary codebreakers from Bletchley Park! Using both specialist computer equipment together with our custom Enigma simulator boards to support the journey, students will endeavour to break the enemy’s codes and use the keys to decipher vital messages.

Depending on the length of workshop, we can also explore various other code making and breaking techniques such as the Pig Pen Cypher and the 2000-year-old Caesar Code Wheel, which participants can make and take home with them.

Code Breakers is customisable to suit the age, abilities and needs of your class.
